Sleek and Classy: Our Guide to Ducati Motorcycles

Audi, Lamborghini, and Volkswagen are three of the worldโ€™s most storied car brands. Lamborghini, in particular, produces some of the best sports cars in the worldโ€”many of us dream of owning one from a young age.

Ducati motorcyclesย are the Lamborghini of motorcyclesโ€”in fact, theyโ€™re owned by Lamborghini, which is in turn owned by Audi, which is owned by Volkswagen. If thatโ€™s confusing, youโ€™re not alone, but the point is that Ducati is part of a family of high-quality, trusted brands.

Ducati Motor Holding produces Ducati motorcycles. Based in Bologna, Italy, Ducati took off in the 1950s under the leadership of Fabio Taglioni. Taglioni created everything from single-cylinder machines that saw wide success in Italian street races to larger-capacity twin engines. The Ducati Supersport motorcycles are some of the most powerful and successful in the world. Ducati even has a racing museum in Borgo Panigale, the Bologna District home to Ducati. Museo Ducati remains an incredibly popular destination for racing enthusiasts.

Ducatiโ€™s racing team has seen an immense amount of success over the years. In 2008, Troy Bayliss won his 3rd Superbike World Championship as part of the Ducati Team. Ducatiโ€™s racing team goes by the name Ducati Corse.

As the Ducati dealer New Jersey trusts, we have a wide selection of new Ducati motorcycles. Even though they specialize in creating powerful sports motorcycles, Ducati produces a wide range of bikes for entry-level and experienced riders alike. Check out our guide to Ducati motorcycles below.

The Engineering of Ducati Motorcycles

In 2015, Ducati released the Testastretta DVT engine, which has desmodromic variable timing. Using Volkswagenโ€™s engineering, they are the first motorcycle engine with variable valve timing. Their air-cooled l-twin engine is both famous and rare in the world of motorcycles.

Ducati Hypermotard

The Ducatiย Hypermotardย 950 has a classy, aggressive look. With a 114hp Testastretta engine, this is an incredibly powerful bike. When it was released in 2005, it won the โ€œBest in Showโ€ award at Milanโ€™s EICMA trade show. A supermotard bike, it can hit top speeds of 176 MPH.

Ducati Monster

Ducati has produced the Monster, a muscle bike, since 1993. One of their most popular motorcycles, the Monster has made up more than half of the companyโ€™s sales in some calendar years. The Monster 797 is the base model with 73hp, while the Monster 1200 boasts 147hp and 91 lb-ft of torque. This motorcycle really lives up to its name.

Ducati Diavel

Ducati released the Diavel in 2011, and the latest model uses a modified version of the Terastretta engine. Itโ€™s a cruiser motorcycle thatโ€™s become very popular since its release. Theย Diavelย continues to gain new riders in the United States, with many Harley Davidson V-Rod riders switching to the Diavel after it came out. ย With a low seat and 152hp, the Diavel offers incredible power for its compact size. The new 2020 Diavel 1260 offers even more.

Ducati Multistrada

Theย Multistradaย competes with the BMW GS, but it isnโ€™t a dual-sort. Itโ€™s a cross between a supermoto and sport-tourer, so itโ€™s not quite as intense as a supermoto bike. Known for its incredible versatility, riders looking for both power and touring capability love the Multistrada. The Multistrada 950, the basic model, offers a lower-cost option, while the Multistrada 1260 has significantly more power for riders looking for more.

Ducati Panigale V4

Theย Ducati Panigaleย V4 is a sport bike built to race. The engineโ€™s name comes from its place of origin, the town of Borgo Panigale. With a four-cylinder engine and 214hp, the Panigale is a street-legal racing bike for the most advanced riders. This beautiful Ducati sport bike model can hit a time-warping top speed of 190 MPH.

Why Choose Us, and Why Choose Ducati Motorcycles?

For years, Ducati has and will continue to lead the way in the production of sport bikes. Even though theyโ€™re a European company, Ducati has grown increasingly popular in North America, with some American riders preferring Ducati to Harley-Davidson. An engineering giant, Ducati continues to lead the way in motorcycle technology. Thatโ€™s probably part of why Ducati Corse has been so successful.
