A Lamborghini subsidiary, Ducati produces some of the finest street motorcycles in the world. Thatโs why riders have trusted Ducati for generations. In the 1950s, they were building bikes that were little more than motorized bicycles; now, they build some of the worldโs best racing motorcycles.
Ducati motorcycles are iconic in the racing world, but we recognize that many of you arenโt looking to win a world championship. Thatโs why we wanted to tell you a bit more about Ducati touring bikes, which remain incredibly popular in New Jersey and worldwide.
Most riders think of brands like Honda and Harley-Davidson when theyโre looking for touring bikes, but Ducati touring bikes offer a sportier alternative. Theyโre lean and powerful, making them an eye-catching option for both beginners and experienced riders.
At Cross Country Cycle, we have all the Ducati touring bikes New Jersey loves. Today, we want to give you an overview of the two primary Ducati touring bike models: theย Multistradaย andย Hypermotard 950. If you like what you read as much as we do, stop by our dealership in Metuchen for a test drive and ย ind the Ducati thatโs right for you.

Whether youโre looking for a touring bike or something more powerful such as the new c, Ducati has always got you covered. Theyโve engineered some of the ย inest bikes on the planet for all types of riders.
In 2014, they released the Testastretta DVT engine, the ย irst motorcycle engine with variable valve timing. The new engine is true to Ducatiโs commitment to innovate and pursue the perfect motorcycle. Variable valve timing allows for greater variation in horsepower based on speed and enhanced fuel ef iciency, saving you money on gas and making for a smoother ride.
Many Ducati bikes feature ride by wire technology, which makes for easier acceleration using new electronic technology. Fuel ef iciency remains a key component of Ducati engineering, and ride by wire is no exceptionโease of acceleration means less fuel is wasted.
Ducati has been a pioneer in electronic suspension, yet another component of their mission to engineer the smoothest possible ride. Semi-active suspension in many of their bikes, including the Multistrada, means your bike can adjust in milliseconds to the potholes youโre bound to ind when cruising around New Jersey.
For Ducati, engineering is about far more than just horsepower, torque, and aerodynamics. Itโs about safety. Their cornering lights help you stay safe when youโre riding in the dark, and theyโve invested in new ABS technology and electronic stability control. All of these elements together make for a smoother, safer ride. Itโs why so many riders across the world have trusted Ducati for generations.
Ducati introduced the Multistrada in 2003, and it quickly gained in popularity. The Multistrada is a cross between a supermoto bike and a sport-touring bike, making it incredibly versatile. Because Ducati specializes in street bikes, you shouldnโt expect the Multistrada to be great for off-road riding. However, it does compete with other dual-sport motorcycles. In Italian, โMultistradaโ means โmany roadsโโand we know youโll enjoy riding this bike on all of your favorite roads.
The Multistrada features the classic Ducati V-twin engine, which the company calls an L-twin, and depending on the model, boasts between 113hp and 158hp. With a fully adjustable Showa shock system, youโre in for a smooth ride no matter where you are.
The Ducati Multistradaโs features vary by model. The Multistrada 950 is one of the companyโs leanest bikes, while the new Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour resembles more of a traditional sport-touring bike. With 95 lb-ft of torque and 158hp, the Grand Tour is the perfect bike for riders looking to go on real adventures. It even comes with cruise control, so you can take your hand off the throttle while youโre on the highway and relax a bit on longer rides. The Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro, on the other hand, adheres more closely to the traditional Multistrada design, a cross between a Sport Touring and a supermoto bike.
We know you donโt want to be taking your bike into the shop every few months. Thatโs what makes the Multistrada so special. Many Multistrada models need service only every 30,000 km or 18,000 miles. That means you donโt have to bring your new bike in for service very often, and youโll have years of rides between trips to the dealership. The larger model, the 1260 S Grand Tour, will need service every 15,000km, or 9,000 miles.
Most riders love the skyhook suspensions, a form of semi-active suspension that adjusts your bike in milliseconds, that come standard on most Multistrada models. This innovative systemโwhich can adjust to different sizes of bumps in the roadโcombined with ABS and traction control makes for a relaxing ride even on bumpy roads. All thatโs missing is for the Ducati Quick Shift, which allows for even faster gear changes, to be added to the Multistrada, but currently, the quick shift is available only on Ducati Supersport Bikes.
We all love riding motorcycles, but how we feel when weโre stopped at a red light matters too. Thatโs what makes many Ducati motorcyclesโincluding the Multistradaโso special. Electronic vehicle hold control (vhc) allows you to take your leg off the ground and relax a bit when youโre stopped in traf ic. While a few seconds at a red light may not seem like much, being able to wipe your forehead or grab a sip of water while youโre stopped on a hot summer day can make a huge difference.
This year, Ducati released theย Superleggera V4, one of the most impressive new motorcycles in recent years. Ducatiโs CEO Claudio Domenicali called it the companyโs โgreatest masterpiece of engineering.โ We couldnโt agree more, and we hope youโll enjoy this bike as much as we do.
The Superleggera V4 isnโt an ordinary sportbike. It features 234hp with a full racing exhaust and 87.7 lb-ft of torque, all with a dry weight of just 152.2kg. 234hp on 152.2kg with a racing kitโthatโs an unimaginable amount of power for such a lightweight machine. Itโs Ducatiโs lightest and most powerful bike. We expect this masterpiece to be winning awards soon.
We encourage you to test drive this vehicle and discover the GP16 extreme aerodynamic design, which is by far one of the most important features of this new model from Ducati. Itโs Ducatiโs most effective aerodynamic design, simplifying the bikeโs layout and adding a vertical load on the front to make for easier acceleration.
With full racing exhaust power, different riding modes and power modes, cornering ABS, and wheelie control, this bike has tons of features that you simply wonโt want to miss. The TFT display makes it easy to navigate all of this bikeโs impressive, industry-leading features.
